The Department of Economics and Statistics at the University of Siena invites applications for its Distinguished Visiting Scholar Program. Each year, the Department hosts at least one leading economist for a short-term visit, so to enrich the local academic environment and contribute to international debates on critical economic and social challenges. We particularly welcome scholars working on broad and impactful topics in any field of economics. Scholars with expertise in frontier research in econometrics and statistical methods are also encouraged to apply.

The first Distinguished Visiting Scholar (May 2026) is Prof. Alan Manning. Prof. Manning is Professor in the Department of Economics at LSE and one of the leading labour economists globally. He made major contributions to the analysis of labour markets, with focus on monopsony, minimum wages, unemployment, job polarization, immigration and how technology affects the labour market.
