Terza Missione, or Third Mission, describes our activities beyond their traditional teaching and research missions. It is a critical element that ensures our impact extends beyond San Francesco’s walls and directly benefits society. It fosters the interaction between academia and society, contributing to socio-economic and cultural development. The concept includes two broad dimensions:
- Knowledge Transfer and Economic Impact:
- Activities that involve applying research and academic knowledge to address real-world challenges.
- Examples include technology transfer, patenting, licensing, spin-offs, industrial collaborations, and business partnerships.
- Cultural and Social Engagement:
- Efforts to promote societal well-being and cultural enrichment.
- Examples include lifelong learning programs, public engagement initiatives, cultural events, exhibitions, and public policy and social innovation support.
